Travel and tourism set to see a paradigm shift. Get your travel shoes on

In 2019, 2,321.98 million Indians travelled within India, a growth of almost 25% year-on-year. With more than 130 airports in the country, and so many cities now connected under the Udey Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme, the civil aviation industry has emerged as one of the fastest-growing industries over the last three years. Tourism is to be seen as an organised industry vertical, that needs to grow more as an organic vertical.

With a Covid-19 resurgence in many parts of the country and the world, international travel is still very subdued. But the ongoing global vaccination drive should speed up the return to travel. If all things go well on the vaccination front, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation’s (UNWTO) panel of experts foresee a rebound in international tourism in Q3 2021. Around 20% of
